There were incredible scenes at U.S. Bank Stadium on Friday’s 6A Prep Bowl final as Centennial High School won their first state title by stopping Edina by a matter of inches on a two-point conversion.
The Hornets were trailing 28-14 with just four minutes to go but managed to score two touchdowns, the second of which came with just 16 seconds left.
But rather than kicking the extra point to take the game to overtime, Edina elected to go for the two points and the win.
Quarterback Mason West sent a shovel pass to Chase Bjorgaard, but the Cougars defense stood strong and stopped the conversion just inches away from the end zone.

It was another dramatic finish between the two sides, who have now competed in five one-score games in the past six years.
Centennial coach Mike Diggins told the Star Tribune: “We knew it would come down to that.”
In the other Prep Bowl finals on Friday, Hutchinson beat Rocori 14-6 to win the 4A crown, Eden Valley/Watkins outlasted Barnesville 24-6 to win the 2A final, while Minneota won their second consecutive 1A title with a 43-22 rout over Springfield/Comfrey.
On Saturday, Nevis and Kingsland duke it out in the 9-man final, Annandale and Stewartville compete for the 3A title, and Chanhassen takes on St. Thomas Academy in the 5A final.
