You’ve heard of the Bomba Squad, but Byron Buxton and the Minnesota Twins dubbed Target Field the “Land of 10,000 Rakes” during Sunday’s 8-4 victory over the Kansas City Royals.
It started when Buxton demolished a Brady Singer fastball and sent it 453 feet to give the Twins a 4-0 lead. The home run carried an exit velocity of 112.9 mph off the bat, but the real highlight commenced when Buxton returned to the dugout and put on a fishing jacket with “LAND OF 10,000 RAKES” written on the back.

After Pablo LĂłpez handed Buxton a fishing pole to complete the celebration, Buxton posed for the camera before the Twins scored seven runs in the bottom of the third inning to break the game open.

The homer was Buxton’s fourth in the past five games and helped the Twins take three-of-four games from the Royals over the weekend.
The Twins improved to 17-12 on the season and will hit the road to open a three-game series with the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night. Joe Ryan (5-0, 2.81 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against Michael Kopech (0-3, 7.01 ERA) of the White Sox.
