Cody Bellinger is a cinch for National League Rookie of the Year and he’s probably the leading candidate for league MVP, too.
The rookie’s 28th home run of the season buried the Twins at Dodgers Stadium Monday night.
With two on and two outs, Bellinger smacked an 0-2 pitch from Twins lefty reliever Taylor Rogers just over the fence in center field.

But the best part of Bellinger’s at-bat isn’t shown in the video above. In fact, nobody is talking about how he hammered the pitch before the home run deep into the seats down the right field line. It went foul and Bellinger was pissed, only to take Rogers deep seconds later.
The Twins are now 49-49. Both Cleveland and Kansas City won Monday so the gap from third to first in the AL Central is now 3 1/2 games, and the Twins are 2 1/2 games behind the Royals for second.
