The Minnesota Wild lost their third straight game, falling to the Washington Capitals 3-2 Friday night in Washington.
1. Ovechkin nets his 40th
Alex Ovechkin tied the score at two in the third period with his 40th goal of the season.

Ovechkin became the seventh player in NHL history to score 40 goals in eight of his first 11 seasons in the league.

He’s had Minnesota’s number this season. Four of those 10 career goals against Minnesota have come this year, Ovechkin had a hat trick in their first meeting.
2. Power play streak continues
The Wild scored a power play goal in their 10th straight road game. Mikko Koivu’s goal right at the end of the first period put the Wild up 1-0.

With two tough 3-2 losses on Thursday and Friday night, the Wild failed to get even a single point at a critical time in their chase to catch Colorado for a Western Conference wildcard spot.
