All good things must come to an end, and after a record-breaking year, Bentleyville organizers are looking for volunteers to help tear down this weekend, to make way for the next big event in Duluth’s Bayfront Festival Park.
A crowd of more than 267,000 came to the park to see the holiday lights display – an increase of more than 30,000 from 2014. But the show ended Sunday night, and a quick teardown is needed.
According to FOX 21, that process will begin this weekend with tear down running from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.
The reason: Preparations are beginning at Bayfront Festival Park for Hockey Day Minnesota’s outdoor hockey event on Feb. 6.

The event will mark the 10-year anniversary of Minnesota’s celebration of hockey. It will be held on a specially constructed outdoor rink at the park, against the backdrop of Lake Superior.
“What a great way to show what Duluth is about – a hearty community that embraces the outdoors,” said Duluth Mayor Don Ness. “So many of us love the game of hockey and grew up playing at our local rinks on ice that our parents built. Our kids are still growing up that way – it’s a tradition.”
The first game will feature Section 7A rivals Duluth Denfeld and Eveleth-Gilbert, while the second game will feature a rematch of the State Class AA Championship game between Duluth East and Lakeville North.
The festivities in Duluth will be part of the Hockey Day Minnesota television event broadcast by FOX Sports North, and will wrap up that night with the Minnesota Wild on the road at St. Louis.
