The Minnesota Vikings are holding a private workout today with Eastern Illinois quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.
According to the Star Tribune, 10 members of the Vikings staff, including head coach Mike Zimmer, met with Garoppolo at the NFL Scouting Combine in February. Garoppolo said he was asked to draw up some plays to reflect game-like situations.
Mike Florio wrote that Garoppolo probably isn’t going to be an option for the Vikings in the first round of the draft because he is more likely to go on the second day (rounds two and three).
FanSided believes Garoppolo is a player that could wind up like Joe Flacco, who went from being a relatively unknown quarterback at Delaware to a player that shot up the draft boards and was taken in the first round by the Baltimore Ravens.
Meanwhile, ESPN’s Ben Goessling tweeted that Minnesota’s workout earlier this week with LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger went well.

VIKINGS OFFER CONTRACT
Minnesota confirmed multiple reports that former Philadelphia Eagles safety Kurt Coleman visited them on Thursday.
Coleman was offered a contract by the Vikings but he left the Twin Cities without signing a deal, the Star Tribune reports.
Coleman, a former seventh round draft pick, has seven interceptions over his four-year career.
