The Vikings won the first NFL game ever played at their new 1 billion dollar stadium on Sunday. They were trailing 10-6 at the end of the second quarter, but then scored their first U.S. Bank Stadium touchdown on a 27-yard touchdown pass from Teddy Bridgewater to Kyle Rudolph.

They continued to put up points on the board every quarter, allowing the Chargers’ offense to score only in the second quarter.

In our pregame article “3 things to watch for when the Vikings face the Chargers on Sunday,” we addressed the starting offensive lineup, if whether or not cornerback Trae Waynes would start and impress, and Teddy Bridgewater’s playing time.
Bridgewater did not play in the last Vikings pregame against the Seattle Seahawks. But he played the first half of Sunday’s game, finishing with 12-of-16 passing for 161 yards and no interceptions. CBS Sports pointed out that Bridgewater “connected with No. 1 wideout Stefon Diggs all five times he threw the ball Diggs’ way, for 71 of those 161 yards.”
Trae Waynes did start instead of Xavier Rhodes – who has a hamstring injury – and played a role in the first interception at U.S. Bank Stadium. He deflected a ball that allowed Harrison Smith to make the first recorded interception in the venue, according to Vikings.com.
Who didn’t start on the offensive line for the Vikings on Sunday? ESPN reported that offensive tackle Matt Kalil is still injured, and that tight end Rhett Ellison did not play either.
