The Minnesota Vikings have ruled running back Jerick McKinnon and starting safety Andrew Sendejo out for their Monday Night Football game against the Chicago Bears.
Both McKinnon and Sendejo suffered ankle injuries in Sunday’s loss to Philadelphia.
With McKinnon out, Matt Asiata will get the bulk of the carries and Ronnie Hillman – who the Vikings signed after Adrian Peterson was placed on injured reserve – will also get some touches.
Sendejo’s injury forces rookie Jayron Kearse to see time at strong safety. Kearse was a seventh-round pick by the Vikings in May and played in Sandejo’s place in Sunday’s loss to the Eagles recording six tackles.
Following the loss, head coach Mike Zimmer called the rookie’s play, “average.”
It’s probably a good thing the Vikings don’t play on Sunday because it will allow them an extra day to get healthy.
The following players are still questionable for Monday night: Marcus Sherels, Coraderrelle Patterson, MyCole Pruitt and Jarius Wright.
Patterson returned to practice on Saturday after sitting out all this week with a concussion.
