With a 2-7 record, the Vikings aren’t often favored to win, and this week is no different. SB Nation says the Vikings opened the week as one-point favorites, but the Raiders have closed the gap and are now favored on the road.
Christian Ponder struggled mightily at times against Green Bay’s defense Monday, but the rookie quarterback says he’s focused on Oakland: “It’s already in the past. I’m already moving on.”
Adrian Peterson is fifth in the NFL with 846 rushing yards and he will be playing his first game against the Raiders Sunday. A knee injury sidelined Peterson during their 2007 meeting. The Raider’s defense won’t have that luxury this time around. Oakland is ranked 25th in run defense and a win would largely hinge on how well they can keep Peterson in check.
The Raiders will be without starting running back Darren McFadden for a third-straight week, but production at the position hasn’t waned. Michael Bush has averaged over 100-yards a game in McFadden’s absence. Last week, Bush bruised San Diego for 242 total yards.
Mike Beacom of SportsIllustrated.com thinks Carson Palmer’s resurgence will continue against a feckless Minnesota pass defense. The Vikings have given up 18 touchdown passes so far. Only the winless Indianapolis Colts are worse.
