Minnesota Vikings offensive line coach Tony Sparano died Sunday at his home of natural causes, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office revealed on Monday.
The report says Sparano was pronounced dead at 8:54 a.m. Sunday at his home in Eden Prairie, with the natural cause of death being arteriosclerotic heart disease.
According to WebMD, arteriosclerosis is the “hardening and narrowing of the arteries” that “silently and slowly blocks arteries, putting blood flow at risk.” It’s the usual cause of many cardiovascular problems, including heart attacks and strokes.

Sparano joined the Vikings in 2016 and was their offensive line coach. Previously, he was head coach of the Miami Dolphins from 2008 to 2011 and the interim head coach of the Oakland Raiders in 2014.
Sparano was 56 years old.
