If we learned anything from the Vikings-Ravens game on Sunday it should be that “it ain’t over ’til it’s over,” as Yankees great Yogi Berra famously said.
That’s the case for the Vikings, who with three games remaining, still have a chance to be the worst team in the NFL.
It’s not exactly a positive thought, but there are a lot of fans who want the Vikings to lose in order to acquire the best possible pick in the draft.
According to Football Outsiders, the Vikings have a 3.1 percent chance to get the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
The same report says the Vikings have a 34.3 percent chance to get a top three pick.
NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah says the Vikings are “very unsettled” at the quarterback position and he can see them using a first-round pick on a quarterback if they stay in the top five.
If the draft were held today the Vikings would pick fourth. The latest mock draft from Sports Illustrated has Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr going to the Vikings.
The Vikings are almost certain to look QB at some point in the draft. Having a player like Barr still on the board at this point would make it tough to pull the trigger on Carr, but the Fresno State product likely could slide in as the starter from Day 1.
