The Minneapolis City Council remains the last significant hurdle to the $975 million, 65,000-seat Vikings stadium approved by the Legislature, and the panel is expected to approve it this week. Foes note that the Minneapolis City Charter prevents the city from devoting more than $10 million to financing pro sports stadiums without a public referendum. But that is not a showstopper, the city attorney says.
