On Tuesday the Minnesota Vikings signed tackle and former No. 1 overall draft pick Jake Long to a contract to beef up their depleted offensive line.

Minnesota brought in Long on Monday for a work out and with starting tackle Andre Smith paced on IR, and guard Brandon Fusco suffering a concussion on Sunday, the Vikings needs all the help they can get.
Smith joins fellow teammate and left tackle Matt Kalil on the Vikings’ injured reserve.
Long was the first-overall pick in the 2008 NFL draft, which would give the Vikings two first-overall picks on their roster, with quarterback Sam Bradford being the other.
Long and Bradford are former teammates from their time spent in St. Louis.
The 31-year-old was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 2008, spending five years in Florida before spending two seasons with the Rams. He signed with the Atlanta Falcons last year.
He only played in four games with Atlanta last year, with no starts.
