Danielle Hunter’s sacks and a fumble return for a touchdown led the way for the Vikings in a 24-9 victory over the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
Hunter had 3.5 of Minnesota’s franchise record 10 sacks in a single game. Tom Johnson had 2.5 sacks, Everson Griffin had 1.5, Mackenzie Alexander and Stephen Weatherly had one each and Sheldon Richardson chipped in with half a sack.

The 10 sacks was just two shy of tying the NFL single game record, last set by the New York Giants against the Philadelphia Eagles in 2007. Oh by the way, the Giants won the Super Bowl that season in an upset over the undefeated New England Patriots.
Offensively, the Vikings weren’t very impressive without wide receiver Stefon Diggs, although Adam Thielen was also dealing with a calf injury that he played through.
Thielen finished with four catches for 22 yards and a touchdown. It was the first game this season Thielen failed to reach 100 yards.
Dalvin Cook played for the first time since aggravating a hamstring injury in Week 4 against the Rams and he finished with 86 yards on 10 carries, including a 70-yard burst that set up Thielen’s touchdown.

The Vikings hit the bye week with a record of 5-3-1, just behind the Bears (5-3) who dominated the Bills on Sunday.
Minnesota returns to action in Week 11 against the Bears in Chicago in what will be a battle for first place in the NFC North.
