The Minnesota Vikings placed starting cornerback Cameron Dantzler on the COVID-19/reserve list on Wednesday, adding to a laundry list of issues to a group that will have to contend with the Green Bay Packers in Week 8.
The COVID-19/reserve list is for players that either test positive for the virus or come in close contact with people who have. Teams are not required to list a reason why they’ve been placed on the list. According to KSTP’s Darren Wolfson, Dantzler was around family during the bye week and the placement is “contact tracing related.”
Dantzler’s placement on the list comes at a bad time for the Vikings. Heading into Wednesday’s practice, they were without fellow starting corner Mike Hughes (neck), Holton Hill (foot), and Chris Jones per ESPN’s Courtney Cronin.
That does not bode well for a Vikings defense that allowed 364 passing yards to the Packers in Week 1 and 286 passing yards per game this season.
