What do you do when you want to get better? If you’re Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes, you get in touch with Odell Beckham Jr. and Antonio Brown and start practicing against them.
According to the Miami Herald, Rhodes was one of about 8 or 9 NFL stars working out together in North Miami this offseason.
“You’re going against the best,” Rhodes said, according to 1500 ESPN. “Those guys are labeled as some of the best in the league. So going against those guys, getting that work off the field, there’s no choice other than to get better.”
Rhodes is the No.1 cornerback on the Vikings’ roster, and entering his third year in the league he knows it’s time to take his game to another level.
“It’s my third year in it,” Rhodes said Tuesday after the first day of Vikings minicamp. “You got no choice other than to know it.”
Beckham and Brown combined for 232 catches, 3,286 yards and 23 touchdowns last season.
- Beckham: 96 catches, 1,450 yards, 13 touchdowns
- Brown: 136 catches, 1,834 yards, 10 touchdowns
Dolphins wide receiver Jarvis Landry was also part of the practice group. He caught 110 passes for 1,157 yards and 4 touchdowns last season.
Rhodes and Beckham will likely go one-on-one in Week 4 when the Vikings host the Giants on Monday Night Football. He’ll also get to see these guys next season:
- Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb – Packers
- Kelvin Benjamin – Panthers
- DeAndre Hopkins – Texans
- Alshon Jeffrey – Bears
- Larry Fitzgerald – Cardinals
- Dez Bryant – Cowboys
- Allen Robinson – Jaguars
- T.Y. Hilton – Colts
Rhodes posts workout clips on Instagram, but it’s not clear if the videos below are from that group working out in North Miami.
