The Minnesota Vikings have released wide receiver Jerome Simpson after news broke that the wide receiver was cited in July for a trio of misdemeanors.
Simpson was serving a three-game suspension after he was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving last year.

According to ESPN’s Ben Goessling, Simpson will soon be back in a courtroom after being cited for a trio of misdemeanors this past summer.

Simpson had one game left on his three-game suspension, which stemmed from being arrested on suspicion of drunken driving last year. He pleaded guilty to careless driving and third-degree DWI in connection with that incident, and was required to work 120 hours in public schools, attend alcohol seminars, and be on probation for one year.
The Pioneer Press reports the latest incident is a violation of Simpson’s probation.
This summer’s citation reportedly happened July 7.

Simpson was set to return from his current suspension – his second overall – on Monday, Sept. 22.
The Star Tribune reports the Vikings and Simpson’s agent have not commented.

Wilf admitted they “made a mistake” by reinstating Peterson on Monday, and they reversed that decision by re-deactivating Peterson on Wednesday. On top of that, linebacker Chad Greenway has a broken hand.
