He’s primarily a special teamer, but Larry Dean has been a talented role player for the Vikings since signing with the team as an undrafted free agent in 2011.
Today, Dean re-signed with the Vikings. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Dean and cornerback Marcus Sherels were the only potential restricted free agents on the team, but both signed deals before free agency opens at 3 p.m. Tuesday. Sherels agreed to a new deal last week. Dean has played in all 48 games since joining the Vikings. He’s recorded 48 tackles on special teams over that stretch.
Meanwhile, the Vikings could be meeting with Baltimore Ravens linebacker Jameel McClain, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent. ESPN’s Adam Caplan reported last week that a Monday meeting between the Vikings and McClain was lined up, and Darren Wolfson says despite the signing of linebacker Jasper Brinkley, the meeting is still scheduled.
Former Ravens LB Jameel McClain is still scheduled to visit the #Vikings tomorrow. Nothing has changed after the Brinkley move.

If the Vikings sign McClain, it would be logical to think he would be in a competition with Brinkley and Audi Cole for the starting middle linebacker job.
