Some current and former Vikings coaches are reportedly in line to interview for the open Chicago Bears head coaching job. The Bears fired Lovie Smith after the season despite finishing with a 10-6 record.
One name on the list, according to SB Nation, is current Vikings special teams coach Mike Priefer. He’s credited with improving Minnesota’s kickoff and punt return units, as well as helping rookie Blair Walsh turn in a Pro Bowl caliber season.
The other Viking coach to get a look is defensive assistant Mike Singletary, the former Bears star and ex-49ers coach. According to the Bleacher Report, the last time Chicago hired a former player to lead the team — it was a huge hit.
Former Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell is also in the hunt. First things first, though, as Bevell’s current team — the Seattle Seahawks — is still alive in the NFL playoffs.
