Antoine Winfield didn’t practice with the Vikings Wednesday, but he vows he will play Sunday despite a fracture in his right hand. The Star Tribune reports that when the cornerback injured his hand in last Sunday’s game in Houston, he thought it was only bruised. An X-ray done during the game didn’t initially show the break, but a second one done the day after the game revealed the fracture in the second metacarpal.
Winfield admitted his hand was “a little tender.” While he has a cast on now, he expects to have his hand taped when he’s on the field on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Pioneer Press reports key Viking players Jared Allen and Adrian Peterson did not practice Wednesday. Allen was under the weather, while Peterson was resting a strained abdominal muscle. Both are expected to be in shape to see action Sunday. Defensive end Brian Robison is still a question mark. He missed the game with the Texans due to a sprained shoulder joint and it isn’t clear if he will be recovered by Sunday.
