Hard-hitting safety Andrew Sendejo will not return to the Minnesota Vikings next season.
The Vikings will not pick up the $5.5 million option on Sendejo’s contract, meaning he’ll become a free agent at 3 p.m. on Thursday.
The team also announced that offensive lineman Mike Remmers has been released. Remmers struggled at right guard in 2018 after playing the majority of the 2017 season at right tackle.

Sendejo suffered a groin injury against the Eagles in Week 5 last season and didn’t return to action, having been placed on injured reserve after Thanksgiving.

Anthony Harris eventually took over Sendejo spot in the starting lineup and played quite well, although it’s unclear if Harris is the frontrunner to play safety alongside Pro Bowler Harrison Smith next season.
Minnesota now has just under $10 million in cap space, according to Over The Cap, although that number will drop by about $2 million with the Vikings tendering a contract to offensive tackle Rashod Hill.
The moves come ahead of the start of free agency at 3 p.m. Wednesday, though teams are allowed to talk with the agents of players who will become unrestricted free agents as of 11 a.m. Monday.
