Rick Spielman dipped his NFL Draft bucket into a well filled with hundreds of football players 10 times earlier this month, and six of those buckets returned a member of NFL analyst Gil Brandt’s “Hot 100” players.
Brandt, a well-respected NFL man who writes for NFL.com, made a list of his top 100 players in the draft and six of them were selected by the Vikings.
NFL.com’s Mike Huguenin then ranked all 32 teams based on the number of Hot 100 players drafted, and the Vikings topped the list.
“Overview: The Vikings drafted six Hot 100 players, the most of any team. They got excellent value with picks in the fourth (OT T.J. Clemmings, 110th overall), fifth (WR Stefon Diggs, 146th overall) and sixth (OT Tyrus Thompson, 185th overall) rounds. Each of their first four picks were Hot 100 players (TE MyCole Pruitt, who went in the fifth round at 143rd overall, was not on Brandt’s list).”
Each player, based on where they were drafted in correlation with Brandt’s list was given a points value. Here’s the breakdown of the players Minnesota drafted.

Daily Norseman notes that Spielman made some great value picks, perhaps none better than Diggs. Vikings play-by-play man Paul Allen watched all three days of Vikings rookie minicamp and he walked away very impressed by Diggs.
