Vikings running back Cam Akers is feared to have suffered an Achilles injury in Sunday’s win over the Atlanta Falcons.
Kevin O’Connell confirmed as much in his postgame press conference. If confirmed, it would be Akers’ second Achilles tear in his short NFL career.
Akers was injured late in the 3rd quarter on 2nd-and-11, when he caught a Josh Dobbs pass for a loss of three at the Atlanta 17.
The Vikings traded for Akers earlier this season, sending a conditional 6th round pick in the 2026 draft to the LA Rams and receiving Akers and a conditional 7th round pick back.
Since joining the Vikings, the 24-year-old has served as the backup to Alexander Mattison, rushing 118 yards on 30 carries, scoring one touch down.
His injury comes a week after Vikings QB Kirk Cousins suffered an Achilles tear that has ruled him out for the rest of the season.
