The 2004-05 Minnesota Vikings had a totally different roster, but their path to the postseason was similar to that of this year’s Vikings team. Eight years ago the Vikings marched into Lambeau Field and beat the Packers 31-to-17 in the Wild Card playoffs.

Back to the roster comparison for a second. As pointed out by CBS Sports, only three players remain from that 2004 team. Defensive back Antoine Winfield, defensive tackle Kevin Williams and long snapper Cullen Loeffler.
The 2004 team was similar to the 2012 team because they started the season 5-1 before crumbling down the stretch only to sneak into the playoffs with an 8-8 record. This year’s team started 4-1 before collapsing to 6-6. The only difference is that they finished strong in 2012.

While the 2012 team is led by a strong rushing attack, the 2004 the Vikings were a passing offense led by Daunte Culpepper and Randy Moss. Culpepper set a franchise record with 39 touchdown passes and Moss finished with 13 touchdown receptions.
