It’s been more than a week since the Vikings released veteran cornerback Antoine Winfield.
The decision caught Winfield by surprise, but he’s still open to returning to Minnesota, according to head coach Leslie Frazier.
“He gave me the impression that he would like to be able to be back in Minnesota, Frazier told ESPN at the owners meetings on Wednesday. “Now it’s just a matter, can we work things out financially to his liking as well as to our team’s liking?”
Linebacker Chad Greenway tells the Star Tribune that he hopes to talk to Winfield about how much he wants him back on the team next year. Greenway says Winfield “makes us a lot better.”
If Winfield does return, it will likely be in a reduced role, according to the Star Tribune.
