Vikings general manager Rick Spielman says Minnesota’s front office has been reviewing film on potential quarterbacks who could be available via trade or free agency.
The day after Teddy Bridgewater’s season ended before it started, Spielman met with reporters before the final preseason game between the Vikings and Rams at U.S. Bank Stadium on Thursday.

“We are in a position where we are trying to find potentially a quarterback in 48 hours,” Spielman told reporters. “They don’t fall out of trees. If you have one, you sure aren’t going to give one up.”
There were reports that free agent quarterback Mike Vick was in Minneapolis on Thursday meeting with the Vikings brass but that has yet to be confirmed.
With Teddy sidelined, Shaun Hill appears to be the Vikings starter to open the season but if the 36-year-old struggles, the Vikings are prepared to make a move.

The Vikings GM also said teams around league are asking for a ton, and that he’s not willing to give up a player or potential draft picks that could hurt Minnesota in the long run.

Stave hurt
Shaun Hill suited up and participated in warmups but did not take the field in the first half of their preseason game against the Rams. Joel Stave started for the Vikings and faced plenty of pressure.
Stave was hit seven times and was sacked twice. He eventually left the game with a hand-injury and his status was determined questionable.

Bridgewater weighing options
Bridgewater has been released from the hospital and was even at Winter Park meeting with teammates on Thursday.
Spielman told reporters that the chances of Bridgewater injuring his knee the way he did were, “less than one percent of that happening, and it happened.”
There’s still no timetable for Bridgewater’s return and the 23-year-old is still waiting to undergo surgery.
