Veteran cornerback Jacob Lacey is the first Viking cut this preseason, the team announced Monday.
Lacey was supposed to provide some veteran depth in the secondary, but he underwent arthroscopic knee surgery last week and he’s expected to miss a few more weeks.
Head coach Leslie Frazier tells the Pioneer Press that Lacey could end up back with the Vikings.
”We’ll see how he does in his rehab,” Frazier said. ”In this business you could always end up back here. You never know.”
Lacey has started at least eight games in each of his first four NFL seasons.
The Vikings have to reduce the roster to 75 players by 3:00 p.m. CT on August 27. The final cuts down to a 53-man roster are due by 5:00 p.m. CT on August 31.
