Teddy Bridgewater threw for 316 yards, including two touchdowns, as the Vikings came from behind to defeat the Lions 28-19 in Detroit Sunday afternoon.
Adrian Peterson rushed for 98 yards, including on 75-yard run to open the second half, and Blair Walsh kicked five field goals in the Vikings’ fourth win of the season, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
The game didn’t start out very promising for Minnesota, as Matthew Stafford led the Lions on two straight touchdown drives in the first quarter to take a 14-3 lead.
But The Vikings defense made adjustments and harassed Stafford the rest of the game, sacking him seven times, the Star Tribune reports.
The Vikings offense also struggled early, but then scored 22 straight points to take command of the game.
Detroit was ahead 17-6 late in the first half but the Vikings scored a touchdown on a one-yard pass from Bridgewater to Kyle Rudolph.
After the Lions went three-and-out, Minnesota got the ball back and Blair Walsh kicked a 51-yard field goal as time expired to end the half down only two, 17-15.

The Vikings kept the momentum going in the second half when they took the lead for good on a 36-yard touchdown reception by rookie Stefon Diggs – his first career touchdown, the Star Tribune notes.
Minnesota scored on two more Walsh field goals, while keeping the Lions scoreless for the entire second half except for a safety that the Vikings took intentionally instead of attempting a punt deep in their end zone, according to the Star Tribune.
It was the Vikings’ (4-2) first road win of the season, and just their third since the beginning of 2013, the Pioneer Press notes.
The Vikings (4-2), play the Bears in Chicago next weekend.
Peterson’s ‘illness’
Adrian Peterson was put on the “questionable” list Saturday due to illness. But it was unclear how he got sick until after the game. The television announcers said Peterson swallowed a wad of chewing tobacco on the flight from Minneapolis to Detroit.
But after the game, Peterson said that wasn’t the case; instead, he said he had an allergic reaction to some shrimp he had eaten. He learned in 2012 that he was allergic to shellfish, but said he loves shrimp so is willing to accept the consequences of eating them.
