The Vikings have signed a new cornerback and let go of another to make room for him.
ESPN says the Vikings claimed Julian Posey off waivers from the Cleveland Browns Monday afternoon and waived cornerback Kip Edwards.
Posey, 25, started one game for the Browns last season and played in five games overall, the Star Tribune says. He had a total of six tackles and one sack.
Posey also played in two games for the Miami Dolphins in 2012. ESPN says the 5-foot-11 cornerback played under new Vikings defensive coordinator George Edwards when Edwards was linebackers coach with the Dolphins.
The Cincinnati native joined the NFL in 2011 when he signed with Jets as a undrafted free agent out of Ohio.
Edwards, 24, joined the Vikings’ practice squad in 2013 but never received a promotion to 53-man roster, the Star Tribune says. He reportedly signed a reserve/future contract with the team after last season.
