The Minnesota Vikings announced Tuesday that they have canceled Friday’s scheduled training camp practices so players and coaches can attend a memorial service for Tony Sparano.
Sparano died unexpectedly at his home in Eden Prairie on Sunday, with the medical examiner revealing that he fell victim to heart disease. He was 56 years old.
Fans who have reserved or purchased tickets for Friday’s training camp will be contacted by the Vikings ticket office. Fans can also call the ticket office for information at 612-338-4537.
Training camp will resume as scheduled on Saturday.
People interested in supporting Sparano’s family are asked to make a donation to the American Heart Association.
Sparano joined the Vikings as the offensive line coach in 2016. Previously, he was head coach of the Dolphins from 2008 to 2011 and the interim head coach of the Raiders in 2014.
