The Vikings have a new wide receiver as they announced Wednesday that they’ve come to terms on a contract with Tajae Sharpe.
Sharpe, 25, is a 6-foot-2 receiver who was drafted in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans, with whom he spent the first four years of his career. Sharpe finished the 2019 season with 25 receptions for 329 yards and four touchdowns.
According to KSTP’s Darren Wolfson, it’s a one-year deal for Sharpe.
In his career, he has 92 catches for 1,167 yards and eight touchdowns. Not bad considering his production dwarfs that of Laquon Treadwell, the former Vikings receiver who was taken in the first round of the 2016 draft.
Sharpe immediately becomes a contender for the No. 2 wide receiver job on the Vikings’ roster, with Adam Thielen cemented as the top receiving option for quarterback Kirk Cousins.
Pending what the Vikings do the April 23-25 draft, Sharpe is set to compete with Bisi Johnnson, Dillon Mitchell, Davion Davis, Chad Beebe, Alexander Hollins and Bralon Addison for depth chart positioning.

The Vikings have also signed defensive lineman Anthony Zettel, who hasn’t put up many impressive numbers the past two seasons after racking up 6.5 sacks while starting 16 games with the Lions in 2017.
