Marcus Sherels didn’t play in Minnesota’s first preseason game because of a personal issue but he bounced back beautifully on Thursday night and played the role of hero in the Vikings’ 18-11 win over the Seahawks in Seattle.
Tied 11-11 with just 90 seconds to play, Sherels intercepted Seattle quarterback Trevone Boykin and returned it 53 yards for a touchdown. You can watch the video right here (the NFL doesn’t let anyone embed videos).

“He threw it right to me, I intercepted it and scored a touchdown,” Sherels said after the game, via the Star Tribune.
Sherels didn’t speak about it after the game, but he made the game-winning play on the same day his older brother, Gophers linebackers coach Mike Sherels, was deemed unable to coach due to recent surgeries. Details on the older Sherels’ situation aren’t known.
