The Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority are already getting close to choosing a favorite architectural design for the new stadium, KSTP reports.
Five companies bid on the $975 million project, but two or three stood out, team spokesman Lester Bagley told the station. He said a firm could be chosen within the next few weeks. An update is expected Tuesday.
The new stadium would be built on the site of the Metrodome in downtown Minneapolis, and would seat 65,000 people, with room for up to 72,000 fans during major sporting events. It would also have 150 suites, 7,000 club seats, and space for a team museum and Hall of Fame, according to the authority’s website, which outlines the project.
And despite the fact that not one shovel of dirt has been moved, the team isn’t wasting any time in bidding for a Super Bowl.
