In the loss to the Bears on Sunday night, Vikings safety Anthony Harris was perfect. Not only did he have two interceptions, but he didn’t allow a catch on any passes thrown into his coverage, according to Pro Football Focus.
What’s more is that Pro Football Focus has him No. 1 overall for the entire season in its safety rankings, giving him score of 92.5. For comparison, All-Pro safety Harrison Smith is ranked 22nd overall with a 75.5 score.
That said, Smith has been on the field for 650 snaps compared to just 235 snaps for Harris.
“That’s last week,” Harris said Monday when asked about his interceptions against Chicago. “Now it’s just preparation and seeing how we can create opportunities like that and be able to capitalize and do different things offensively and defensively.”
Veteran safety George Iloka was the original replacement for Sendejo six weeks ago, but Harris has taken the starting job each of the past three games and not disappointed.
It’ll be interesting to see if the Vikings give Sendejo the starting job back once his groin injury allows him to play, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see Harris keep the gig.
Then again, these are ratings from Pro Football Focus, which head coach Mike Zimmer has been critical of in the past.
