The Minnesota Vikings announced on Thursday that they signed 14 players out of their 2020 draft class. With quarterback Nate Stanley being signed on July 13, the team now has their entire 2020 draft class under contract as rookies report to training camp.
This year’s draft class will play a crucial role for the Vikings as they look to reload after seeing several veterans leave over the offseason.
First-round picks Justin Jefferson and Jeff Gladney will see the biggest roles for the Vikings, but several other of their later round picks including second-rounder Ezra Cleveland and third-rounder Cameron Dantler will also see time in 2020.
For the rest of the draft class, making the team could be an uphill battle after the NFL announced earlier this week that there will be no preseason games and the training camp roster will be cut down to 80 players due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the class signed, the Vikings have continued a busy week for the front office that saw head coach Mike Zimmer agree to a multi-year contract extension.
The announcements could continue prior to veterans reporting to training camp on Monday as general manager Rick Spielman enters the last year of his deal and Dalvin Cook continues his holdout for a new contract.
