The Minnesota Vikings activated cornerback Josh Robinson from the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list Wednesday and waived tight end Chase Ford.
Robinson began practicing with the team three weeks ago after he suffered a pectoral injury during the offseason program. He finished last season with 40 tackles and three interceptions.
Vikings coach Mike Zimmer told reporters Wednesday he isn’t sure what Robinson’s role will be just yet.
“He’s getting out there working on technique, so we’ll see moving forward,” Zimmer said.
Robinson has played 42 regular season games, including 21 starts, since he was selected in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He had 160 tackles, five interceptions, 28 passes defensed, 5.0 tackles for loss and 12 tackles on special teams.

Ford, who is also in his fourth season, hadn’t played in a game yet this year and had been active for just one. Last season he caught 23 passes for 258 yards in 11 games and started five.
“It ain’t tough,” Ford told the Pioneer Press. “It’s part of the game. It ain’t my first time being cut.”
Ford had dropped to fourth on the Vikings tight end depth chart with the arrival of Mycole Pruitt. The Vikings drafted Pruitt in the fifth round (143rd overall) out of Southern Illinois.
