The Vikings entered Saturday with 88 players on the roster and that number is now 53 after 35 cuts were made before the 3 p.m. deadline.
Among the big names to be released are kicker Kaare Vedvik, wide receivers Laquon Treadwell and Brandon Zylstra, and quarterback Kyle Sloter.

Minnesota was reportedly trying to trade Treadwell and Sloter, but there were apparently no takers for two players who every team in the league now gets a free run at in free agency.
Vedvik’s future is uncertain, but ESPN’s Courtney Cronin says the Vikings hope he clears waivers so they can sneak him onto the practice squad. But as it stands now, the Vikings have released a kicker they gave up a fifth-round pick for less than a month ago.

Vikings haven't had any conversations with Vedvik about a practice squad spot yet, according to a source. He'll go on waivers, where another team could try to claim him by tomorrow.

Vikings are releasing TE Cole Hikutini, per source. So it seems they'll go with three there, for now, on the 53: Rudolph, Smith, Conklin. Then when Morgan is eligible to come back they can elevate him to the 53, keep 4 TEs and cut elsewhere if they want.
