“It takes hard work … to get where we wanna go.”
Those are the words Timberwolves interim head coach Sam Mitchell used at the end of a Timberwolves training camp practice this week, as NBA’s All Access channel provided an up-close and personal view of the team.
The video is here.
“You ain’t getting older, baby, you’re getting better,” Mitchell enthusiastically says about Kevin Garnett.
All the while, Garnett, the soon-to-be 40-year-old future Hall of Famer finishing his career in the place he started 20 years ago, plays the role of mentor while demanding communication on the defensive end of the floor.
Garnett’s protĂ©gĂ©, 19-year-old Karl-Anthony Towns, takes KG’s message to heart:
“I’m quarterbacking you, KG, I’m quarterbacking you … I got you, I got you,” he says.
Practices through the early stages of camp have lasted 210 minutes each, Timberwolves.com says.
It could be a fun and exciting season watching the Wolves compete with veterans like Garnett, Tayshaun Prince and Andre Miller, along with the future franchise players Andrew Wiggins and Towns.
