Christian Ponder told reporters the Vikings defense played “exceptionally well” holding the Houston defense to just one third down conversion in Minnesota’s 23-6 win over the Texans Sunday.
“We had to rise to the occasion,” he said. “There was no other option.”
But Ponder also said the big win won’t mean anything if the Vikings can’t beat Green Bay next week at Mall of America Field.
“Obviously our number one goal is to make the playoffs,” he said.
