No surprise that Christian Ponder was dapper as always after the Vikings loss in Chicago Sunday, but give a little credit: He played almost half as well as he dressed.
Having said that, there were reasons to think Ponder is a little bit more comfortable in a football suit than a business one. His line on Sunday was fine by any stat-head’s lowered measure, and he showed a new, if fleeting, calm in key third-down conversions.
“Those guys in the locker room, you know, we’re a family,” Ponder said, post-game. “For us, to take it down to the last play of the game, that’s something we can be proud of. We’re not proud that we lost, but that’s something we can take and apply for the rest of the season.”
Great! Except for that whole 0-2 part. Might want to do something about that as well.
