There are moments that every Minnesota Twins fan remembers, and then there are those moments that will live forever.
Last week we shared with you that it had been 25 years since Kent Hrbek pulled Ron Gant off first base in Game 2 of the 1991 World Series.
While that was certainly a memorable moment from one of the greatest World Series’ ever played, it doesn’t quite compare to what happened in Game 6.
Kirby Puckett’s efforts that night are the things that legends are made of. It was literally a Hall-of-Famer at his greatest professional moment.
With the Twins facing elimination, Puckett made a spectacular catch up against the plexiglass to rob Gant of an extra base hit – and probably save the Twins a run.
Then in the bottom of the 11th, with the score tied at 3 Puckett came to the plate against Atlanta lefty Charlie Leibrandt.
Kirby then sent the series to historic Game 7 with the most dramatic walk-off home run in franchise history.
Without Puckett’s heroics in Game 6, Jack Morris’ Game 7 may have never happened.
