A group of eco-artists has created a tribute to honor Timberwolves coach and president Flip Saunders, who passed away last week.
Saunders was laid to rest on Saturday in a private memorial service. He died last week from complications of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
The artists created the #ForFlip tribute at Nicollet Island Pavilion in Minneapolis.
“We realized nothing in nature ever really passes. It changes form and we thought this was fitting for the occasion,” artist Bjorgvin Saevarsson told WCCO. “He was a great man who did an amazing thing for the community for the team.”
The work was to remain on display through the Wolves’ home opener Monday evening. If you didn’t get out there Monday to see it, here is a quick aerial view video of the work.
