The David Ortiz farewell tour has come and gone from Target Field. Ortiz, the former Twins slugger who became a future Hall of Famer in Boston, made his final trip to Minnesota over the weekend.
Some former teammates of Ortiz bid him a fond farewell as the series opened on Friday night. Here’s a look behind the scenes of the events on Friday.

Since he was waived by the Twins following the 2002 season, Ortiz has often been critical of the organization for how he was handled here. That was no different from what he told USA Today last week, ahead of his visit to Minnesota.
While some Twins fans have come around on “Big Papi,” others will probably choose to remember him for how it all ended at Target Field. With the game tied at four in the 10th Ortiz had one more chance to show the Twins what they missed out on.
Ortiz’s strikeout was the final out of the 10th inning for Michael Tonkin. Max Kepler put an end to the game with his three-run homer in the bottom of the inning.
