The world has a new glimpse of little Hannah McCullough, one of two conjoined twins born to a Minnesota mom last month.
Amber McCullough, who gave birth on Aug. 26 knowing Hannah’s sister, Olivia, wouldn’t live through their medically necessary separation, posted a photo of the surviving twin on Facebook Sunday morning, KUSA in Colorado reports.
McCullough had been informed by doctors that twin Olivia would not survive due to heart defects.
Since the birth, Hannah has been fighting for her life – KUSA says post-surgical complications caused her to lose her “whole blood volume three times over,” but adds the baby’s condition is now improving.
Along with Sunday’s picture, McCullough provided a brief but hopeful update: “We are having an uneventful day which is a very good day,” she wrote.
She also issued a heartfelt note of gratitude to everyone who had donated money through her GoFundMe account, which has exceeded its $30,000 fundraising goal.
The help was badly needed; McCullough says her situation as a single mother on medical leave has left her struggling to “keep the lights on” and pay the mortgage.
She also has a six-year-old son named Tristan, according to her GoFundMe profile.
ABC News reported late last mont that McCullough was recovering from the birth “without complication.”
