Evan Daniels of Scout.com tweeted today that former Robbinsdale Cooper guard Rashad Vaughn’s college announcement has been pushed back until Tuesday.

The consensus top-20 recruit in the nation previously tweeted that he would make the choice of where he’ll play his college basketball this weekend, with Iowa State and UNLV believed to be the final contenders for his services.
Also on Vaughn’s official list are North Carolina, Kentucky, and Kansas, though he has not made visits to those three schools.
Vaughn transferred to Findlay Prep in Las Vegas to finish his high-school basketball career last summer, and eliminated the University of Minnesota from his list of possible destinations in late-December.
But as we wrote yesterday, and can build on today, some late steam may be building for an upset choice for Vaughn.
The ultra-athletic shooting guard tweeted this yesterday.
Trust me, Nobody knows anything

Could be nothing, but some other coincidences have popped up over the last 24 hours that lead us to believe a surprise is coming, as Vaughn’s tweet suggests.
We mentioned Washburn running back and Minnesota-commit Jeff Jones yesterday in our initial article on Vaughn possibly re-considering the Gophers, and Marcus Fuller of the Pioneer Press has an awfully coincidental nugget on Jones and Vaughn.
Looking back on signing day notes about Jeff Jones. Found something interesting. He actually was on same AAU football team as Rashad Vaughn.

We know, the connection could be minimal, if anything. They might not even be friends, we’re not sure, but consider a few similarities between the two.
Not only are the duo top athletes, but Minnesota natives that grew up in and around the city, Vaughn a native of Golden Valley, just outside of north Minneapolis, and Jones an attendee of Washburn, in south Minneapolis.
Having played sports together growing up, odds are their mutual success kept them in touch, though of course, we’re just speculating.
A more fact-based argument of why Vaughn may be mulling over the Jones connection and a return to Minnesota comes from the two young men’s college lists.
Jones was down to Iowa State and Minnesota before choosing the Gophers as his college home, whereas Vaughn, as we said, is reportedly down to Iowa State and UNLV.
With all the talk of package deals in this recruiting class, is it possible the two spoke to each other and formed the first multi-sport package? If Jones went to Iowa State would Vaughn have followed, and now that he hasn’t, could he don maroon and gold since Jones is doing the same?
Honestly, no clue at all, this is just a case of us putting pieces together and thinking big as Gopher faithful. Call us dreamers, but if Vaughn pulls a rabbit out of his college hat, and that hat happens to say Minnesota, call us ecstatic.
The Cyclones would be pretty happy too it appears.
