Twins Opening Day starter Vance Worley seems to have regained some of his mojo in Triple-A Rochester.
In his Red Wing debut Monday, Worley tossed a complete game shutout against Lehigh Valley, giving up five hits and striking out five.
“It’s very important to get one of these types of games in,” Worley told TwinsDaily.com. “I’ve been struggling all year, starting in the spring. I haven’t been myself. The velocity has been there, the break on everything is there, and it’s just a matter of getting it down. I needed this, I need to find myself down here so that I can go back up and help those guys.”
“Those guys” meaning the Minnesota Twins, who issued Worley a one-way ticket to New York state after a miserable 1-5 start to the 2013 season.
The demotion may have been especially painful to the Twins TV ad team, which delivered a great Worley-Joe Mauer bobblehead ad earlier this month. The ad only saw the air a few times before Worley was sent packing:
