It was trifecta of sorts for the University of Minnesota women’s hockey team Sunday against Wisconsin.
First, the victory. It was a 5-1 win over the Badgers — the first time the U women have swept Wisconsin since the 1999-2000 season.
It was also Minnesota’s 34th consecutive victory, an NCAA women’s hockey record.
And it was senior goalie Noora Raty’s 100th win. That’s also an NCAA record, tying her with former Mercyhurst goalie Mercyhurst goaltender Hillary Pattenden.
Raty aims for win no. 101 Saturday against Minnesota-Duluth. A victory would also wrap up the WCHA title this year for the No. 1 Gophers.
