Can the Gophers beat Indiana? That’s a dumb question:
Going into tonight’s game at Williams Arena, Minnesota is a 6-point underdog. Six points? To the No. 1 team in the country which dominated Monday’s Associated Press Top 25 poll?
There can only be one explanation. According to the FromTheBarn blog: “The folks in Las Vegas don’t have access to the Big Ten Network.”
Actually, there is a five-point formula the Gophers can utilize to upset Indiana. Star Tribune writer Michael Rand says it starts with “shoot lights-out.”
Minnesota may have been outscored by 47 points in its latest two losses (Iowa and Ohio State), but the Golden Gophers have defeated top-ranked teams before. Since 1951, Minnesota is 3-8 in such games at the Barn.
The latest win? 1989, against then-number-one Illinois.
So, we’re telling you there’s … a chance.
