The newest member of the Target Field bronze statues club – whose current members include Kirby Puckett, Harmon Killebrew and Kent Hrbek – is none other than TC Bear, the Twins’ mascot.
The addition was unveiled shortly before noon Sunday. He’s located at Gate 29, the south corner of the stadium along 7th Street North, where right field is located.
In addition to icons Puckett, Oliva and Hrbek, the Twins have sculpted Rod Carew, Calvin Griffith, Carl and Eloise Pohlad, Tony Oliva, for display at Target Field.
Prior to the unveiling, the Business Journal had narrowed its guesses down to three: former manager Tom Kelly or pitchers Bert Blyleven and Frank Viola.
According to KSTP, the team said Oliva and Hrbek will be on-hand for the unveiling.
