Minnesota Wild winger Cal Clutterbuck had to be helped off the ice by teammates last night after a knee-on-knee hit by Edmonton’s Taylor Hall.
Hall received a game misconduct and a five-minute major penalty for kneeing. Clutterbuck, who suffered a thigh contusion, called the hit “a little reckless.”

“It was just a weird hit,” Hall told reporters after the game (a 3-1 Wild victory). “I felt I got a good chunk of him with my hip. It sucks to see him down, but I don’t really think it was that dirty.”
A photo from the Edmonton Journal, however, shows Hall might be wrong about what happened:

Wild winger Devin Setoguchi didn’t mince words. He told the Star Tribune: “If that’s not a suspension, I don’t know what is.”
Wild coach Mike Yeo claims Hall wasn’t even looking for a puck, calling him a “guy trying to hurt someone.”
